For
the several years XKs Unlimited has had a vendor space at the annual circus
known around the collector world as the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction.
As the photo above shows this event covers several acres of property at
the Scottsdale, Arizona show ground known as Westworld. As a vendor you
hear and see a fraction of what is going on, but we met several long time
customers, renewed friendships, and hopefully bolstered the interest in
Jaguars and classics in the general collectable market.
The
big yellow and white striped tent in the photo above is the auction tent.
It also houses vendors of collectibles of all sorts, from automobilia to
life size bronze animal garden art. All the open-air tents in the foreground
provide covered parking for cars that are going on the block. This provides
one with “up close” access to the object of his affection, and
maybe even a conversation with the seller. The photo was taken early in
the week, before the skies opened up. As the week went on, the show suffered
through heavy rain, pea-size hail, and funnel clouds, all making for dramatic
desert skies.
We had two cars on display that were recently completed by our people. The photo of the booth space shows the green XK-140 DHC. This car is featured in the Restoration Profile section of this magazine. The Mustang you see on the left, is a completely new old-car. New paint, new running gear, new brakes, new 427 Ford Roush engine, new 5-speed transmission, and the list goes on and on. All the details can be visited by clicking over to the Cars For Sale pages under Cars For Sale, Model Years 1960 - 1969 and scrolling down.
If you were one of the visitors by our booth, we thank you for stopping by. And we’ll probably see you next year too.
