You have got to commend Jaguar for coming up with a simple method of limiting the travel of the XJ-40 glove box door. Two check arms are attached to the door; they slide through grommets that keep the door aligned and limit its travel. The problem is that the grommets harden over time and ultimately break apart and fall out, allowing the door to flop down past level. The solution is a quick and easy replacement of the grommets, which push into place. Give them a periodic shot of silicone spray to keep the check arms sliding smoothly. Two required per car. To purchase this part, search for part number JA-BEC18266.
